Event Recap: Swiss Guard Exhibit Opening Event

The opening weekend of the patrons-sponsored “Life of a Swiss Guard” Art Exhibit was filled with special events. The preview evening was a PAVM-exclusive event hosted by The Basilica Landmark and our generous donors Jack and Cathy Farrell and Jacques and Lydie Stassart. Special guests included Archbishop Bernard Hebda, Fr. Daniel Hennessy, and exhibit curator Dr. Romina Cometti from the Vatican, as well as Dr. Mario Enzler, former Swiss Guard, who regaled us with his personal experiences of his actual life as a Swiss Guard during the pontificate of John Paul II. The next day The Basilica Landmark hosted a lunch for the friends of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. About 125 people attended and were entertained by the same speakers as the night before. The last event was a public lecture by our Chair, Johan van Parys, on the history of the Swiss Guards and the exhibit, followed by a reception.
